Project Description

Intergenerational games for promoting social interactions

An exploration on how to design and the social benefits of digital games to promote social interactions between different generations (e.g. grandparents versus (grand)children).

In our ageing society, it is of importance to ensure older adults remain actively engaged in society. The aim of this project was to explore the role of intergenerational games for promoting social interactions between older adults and younger generations, such as their (grand)children. We conducted a literature review on the social benefits associated with intergenerational digital game play and the factors that need to be taken into consideration when designing games targeting at mixed-aged players. Next, we summarized the literature on the dynamics of setting up and conducting the co-design of intergenerational games.
